The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band feat.: Rick Vito
Mick Fleetwood joined the Hypertension-Family. We are very proud to welcome Mick Fleetwood and his Blues Band. A new Record, an European wide Tour and new Merchandise will be handled by Hypertension.
Mick Fleetwood, the iconic co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, is celebrating his blues heritage with his new band, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. The band features a tribute to the original Fleetwood Mac, the all-male blues band that started it all in 1967.
Bringing together four stellar Blues and Rock musicians, Mick Fleetwood presents a band that is as current as it is nostalgic. At the front of the group, is Rick Vito, veteran Bluesman and former Fleetwood Mac vocalist and lead guitarist. Rick adds his personal touch while staying true to the styling of early Fleetwood Mac front man Peter Green. “A lot of guys can play the licks but Rick has the tone and that’s so important in real blues,” says Mick Fleetwood.
With Fleetwood anchoring the band on percussion, the “other half” of the rhythm section is Lenny Castellanos on bass guitar. As Mick points out, “I’ve played with John McVie for 40 years, any bassist who plays with me has big shoes to fill.” – Lenny does a great job filling those shoes while complimenting Mick’s unique and revered drum style. Mark Johnstone ties everything together on the keys and backup vocals, infusing a vibrant energy to the group
The band is led, of course, by the legendary Mick Fleetwood, providing a backbone with his unmistakable power-house percussion and persona. The band pays tribute to the Mac's early days, when it drew heavily on American blues music and produced hits such as "Albatross," "Oh Well" and "Black Magic Woman" (which was covered by Santana). The band also offers some essential blues covers in every show.

Nils Lofgren has played with artists from Neil Young to Bruce Springsteen, while still maintaining a career as a vibrant solo artist. His talent as a singer / songwriter and exceptional guitarist have won a loyal international following over the past three decades-----------
“1970 was a very magical year in my life. During the making of the “After the Gold Rush” album in Topanga Canyon, California with Neil Young and our producer and “brother in arms” David Briggs,
I did my first real acoustic guitar and piano session work. Neil lent me his cool Martin D-18 (which appears on the inside photo of the “Gold Rush” album leaning against the wall next to him) to play on the record. Near the end of the sessions, Neil gave me this now historic guitar as a gift for my contribution and commitment to this landmark recording. It remains a treasured guitar, which I continue to play and cherish to this day.
I knew that the soul and history of the D-18 would give me my best chance of doing Neil’s songs justice. Also, David Briggs, my dear friend, producer and mentor, although no longer with us, perched his spirit on my shoulder and kept the music real.
We were all surprised how quickly I was able to embrace the project, which is a testament to Neil’s magnificent songwriting. My precious wife Amy offered constructive and valuable advice and inspiration regarding song selection and encouraged truer versions of a number of songs.
These intimate performances were recorded in our home, along with 3 dogs, 2 cats, our teenager, family & friends visiting, and a world tour to get prepared for. It required a huge amount of love, support and quiet! Thanks Amy, you’re the best.
The piano songs were also recorded live on our old Hardman 5 ft. baby grand piano that belonged to Amy’s father, who she never knew. It was a wedding gift 10 years ago from her Aunt Emily and Uncle Mike, who she sought out and befriended to learn about her Dad who died tragically when she was 16; a long, rough story of loss, acceptance and forgiveness.
It’s been heartening to know he played and sang at this piano, and I feel a presence and spirit whenever I’m playing it. The first time I ever sat down to play the Hardman piano, a complete song called “Heaven’s Answer to Blue” literally burst out through me! It appears on the “Break Away Angel” album and I believe it is Amy’s father’s spirit expressing gratitude for her understanding and forgiveness while making amends through the song for the pain and damage he left behind.
Anyway! – There’s lots of history and character in these two old instruments I used to sing Neil’s beautiful songs. I hope I’ve done them justice in your ears and in your hearts.”

Oliver Geissen feiert heute die 40. Folge von Deutschlands erfolgreichster Popshow. In seiner Geburtstagsausgabe sucht er die 40 'erfolgreichsten New Wave- und Popsongs aller Zeiten'. Gäste im Studio sind u.a. Mario Barth und Musikexperte Thomas M. Stein. Showacts sind: Die New-Wave-Megaikone Debbie Harry, die als Sängerin der Band 'Blondie' Erfolge feierte, Limahl (der Sänger von 'Kajagoogoo') und Midge Ure (der Sänger von 'Ultravox'. Mit der 'Chart Show' etablierte RTL 2003 Popmusik zur Prime Time. Die erste Folge präsentierte Oliver Geissen am 21. Mai 2003. In der Jubiläumssendung werden die coolen 80er Jahre wieder lebendig. Hochtoupierte Haare, schwarzer Kajal um die Augen, bloß nicht lächeln und viel Neon. In der Disco einfarbige, kahle Wände und eisige Blicke. Die Musiker brauchen jedoch mehr als nur zwei Gitarrengriffe und Synthesizer sowie Keyboards kommen wieder zum Einsatz. Wie cool die 80er Jahre waren zeigt Oliver Geissen in: 'Die ultimative Chart Show ? die erfolgreichsten New Wave- und Popsongs aller Zeiten'.
